How to find cheap auto insurance in three easy steps

We all like getting a good deal. There is a special pleasure when finding a bargain, of knowing you paid below to going rate. That doesn’t happen with most people when buying auto insurance. In fact people don’t even think of their auto insurance when they think of ways of saving on their monthly budget. However there is a large price margin between the different car and auto insurance policies on sale. The secret is to know how to find the bargains, how to find a good auto insurance deal.

The first step is to accept the fact that not all car insurance companies are the same, that not all policies are priced equally, basically that there are bargains to be found if we are willing to look for them. Most of us view auto insurance as a basic expense we have to live with, pay without asking questions. However you will see people shopping for hours if not days, rummaging in piles to find a bargain. These same people will then take the first auto insurance a car dealer or insurance salesmen shoves in their general direction as an afterthought after signing the purchase contract of their spanking new car.

So we have passed step 1, a rather simple one. You can get a better price, a bargain on your auto insurance if you try.

Step 2, is rather simple too. You need to understand that online auto insurance is more likely to be cheaper than traditional insurance companies. The reason for this are explained in other articles but the principle is so simple it can be illustrated in a couple of lines. Traditional insurance companies with large offices, numerous staff members and endless overheads cannot compete with online insurance companies that can lower their overheads and by doing so the prices they can afford to offer their clients. The problem with this step is the issue of confidence. With things we don’t understand we are wary of change. We look for power figures, people we trust to give us answers. This same reasoning has given witch doctors, priests and doctors godlike power and respect throughout history. Something similar occurs with finance and insurance issues, we look for an expert an insurance advisor that can tell us what we should do. That is plain lazy. Just like a savvy car buyer will test drive and read up on the new car he wants to buy a clever insurance policy holder will research the basics of the auto insurance industry before purchasing an insurance policy.

Step 3 is a matter of numbers. One of the advantages of internet is that we can ask for more quotes, more accurately in a fraction of the time. Imagine how much time you would spend in asking for quotes from 10 differnt insurance companies. Just getting to the different offices, waiting in the lobby, explaining your situation and requirements 10 different times. You can do that or apply on insurance websites that search for quotes from dozens of companies with one click.

Want to get a bargain, follow these three steps, it figures.
